The mechanism matters: traditional sauna heat works primarily through hot air convection, while infrared heat penetrates more directly through skin and absorbs into superficial tissue. That difference has practical consequences for ownership — infrared cabins reach a comfortable working temperature in roughly 10 to 15 minutes versus 30+ for a traditional cabin, and they run from a domestic plug rather than a hard-wired heater circuit.
Heating system
The IR100 combines two halogen near-infrared emitters (1× 400W and 1× 600W) for fast targeted radiant warmth with a 195W carbon far-infrared panel for sustained even-temperature comfort. Total cabin output is 1195W, which sits comfortably within the headroom of a UK 13A circuit. The hybrid configuration gives a usable session profile within minutes of switching on rather than the long pre-heat that single-element designs typically need.
Cabin construction and finish
The interior is 48mm Thermo Aspen — heat-stable, low-resin, and chosen for the way it feels against skin at session temperature. The exterior carries a black veneer finish for a contemporary look in modern interiors, and 8mm grey safety glass front and door panels keep the cabin feeling open rather than enclosed. Cabin footprint is 100 × 120 × 200cm, designed to fit alongside other gym equipment in a small dedicated space.
Atmosphere and controls
Chromotherapy LED lighting offers selectable colour modes for atmosphere across an evening wind-down session. Twin built-in speakers with USB and Bluetooth connectivity let you stream guided breathwork, music, or podcasts directly from a phone — a small detail that significantly improves the chance of building a consistent weekly routine. An internal digital control panel keeps temperature and timer adjustment within reach mid-session.
