Electrical Requirements (13A vs 32A)
Hot Tub Electrical Requirements (13A vs 32A)
Most buying confusion comes down to power. Here’s the simple version: 13A Plug & Play is easiest to install; 32A hardwired gives stronger performance and better heat recovery for frequent use.
13A Plug & Play
- Connects to a standard outdoor socket
- Best for first-time owners and smaller tubs
- Lower install complexity
32A Hardwired
- Installed by an electrician on a dedicated supply
- Better for year-round use and stronger massage performance
- Improved heat recovery for longer sessions
Common questions
Can I use an extension lead?
We don’t recommend it. A safe outdoor-rated socket and correct setup is the right route.
Will a 13A tub heat while jets are running?
Some systems prioritise heating vs jets depending on configuration. If you want the strongest “heat + jets” performance together, 32A is the better choice.
Do I need an electrician?
32A: yes. 13A: usually no if you already have a suitable outdoor socket, but safety matters.
If you tell us your preferred tub model and how you plan to use it (weekends vs most nights), we can recommend the best power option.
