Fonteyn Uwais Outdoor Sauna | 4-Person Finnish & Full Spectrum Infrared Combi

The Fonteyn Uwais is a serious garden sauna that gives you both ends of the heat spectrum in one cabin: a powerful 8kW Finnish-style traditional heater for hot, high-humidity sessions, plus 6 full spectrum infrared panels for gentler, deeper-warming sessions. Built from Aspen wood with LED-strip ambience, inside controls, and a 4-person footprint sized for real household use rather than once-a-quarter showpiece sessions.

It is the right sauna for households where one user wants the classic Finnish protocol — hot, brief, intense — and another prefers a longer, lower-temperature infrared session, without committing the garden footprint to two separate cabins.

Traditional Finnish and full spectrum infrared work the body in mechanistically different ways. Traditional heat (typically 80–100°C with löyly steam) drives a strong sympathetic response: peripheral vasodilation, sweat onset within minutes, heart rate elevated to a level comparable with moderate aerobic activity. Infrared sessions run at 50–60°C and warm tissue more directly via radiant heat — less cardiovascular load, more tolerable session length, useful when recovery state does not call for the full Finnish protocol. The combi setup lets you match the modality to how you actually feel that day.

Combi heating: 8kW Finnish heater + 6 full spectrum infrared panels

An 8kW traditional sauna heater is the right sizing for a 4-person Aspen cabin of this internal volume — large enough to bring the cabin to operating temperature within roughly 30 to 40 minutes and hold a stable 80–110°C across a session, without the aggressive cycling that comes from over-sized heaters. Six full spectrum infrared emitters are distributed across the cabin walls, which matters more than total wattage: radiant intensity falls off rapidly with distance, so a single concentrated emitter produces uneven irradiation. Distributed panels deliver more consistent warming across the body during an infrared session.

Aspen wood interior and outdoor build

Aspen is the European standard for high-quality sauna interiors. The wood is light, knot-free in the panels typically used for cabins like the Uwais, low in resin (so it does not sap or smell harsh under heat), and has low thermal conductivity — meaning bench surfaces and wall-touch points warm more gradually than denser woods, reducing the risk of contact burns during high-temperature sessions. The cabin ships outdoor-ready: black roof shingles included, designed for installation on a level, load-bearing base in a UK garden.

Atmosphere, controls and what is included

Inside-mounted controls keep operation simple — set traditional heat or infrared without leaving the cabin. LED strip lighting provides a warm, adjustable evening atmosphere rather than the harsh utilitarian feel of a single overhead bulb. The cabin ships with a heater protection rack (mandatory for safety around an exposed traditional heater), a sauna accessory pack (bucket, ladle, hourglass, thermometer for the löyly cycle), a front seating area, and the full set of black roof shingles. No additional purchase is required to get the sauna into operation beyond the base preparation and qualified electrical installation.

Delivery & site preparation

  • Standard delivery: Free standard delivery is included.
  • Delivery type: Sauna deliveries are usually specialist freight or booked delivery because of panel size and weight.
  • Site preparation: Outdoor saunas need a suitable, level, load-bearing base ready before delivery (concrete pad, paving, or a properly engineered platform). Avoid uneven decking unless designed for the load.
  • Heater & electrics: The 8kW heater requires a dedicated supply with appropriate protection (RCD) and an outdoor isolator. Confirm cable sizing and protection with a qualified electrician before installation.
  • Installation: Assembly and installation are not included unless clearly stated on the product page or purchased separately.
  • Access: Please measure routes, doorways, gates and turning areas before ordering.
  • Lead time: Typical delivery is around 2 weeks (subject to stock and scheduling).
