Steam & Oak Solo 205 Outdoor Sauna — 2–3 Person Thermowood Garden Sauna

Most garden saunas ask for a corner of the lawn. The Solo 205 asks for a strip 1.25 m deep — the width of a garden path — and still seats two to three people on full-length benches.

That is the whole design. A conventional cabin needs a 2 m × 2 m footprint before you have sat down. By running the benches along the 2.05 m front and putting the heater in the corner, the Solo 205 fits down the side of a house, along a fence line, or on a patio that would not take anything else. The full-height bronze glass front means a shallow cabin still feels open rather than boxed in.

Why thermowood matters here

The body is thermowood throughout — timber kiln-treated at 180–220°C in a low-oxygen chamber. That is not a surface coating. It changes the wood itself, closing the cells so it absorbs far less moisture, which is what stops outdoor timber cupping, twisting and splitting through a British winter. No chemical preservatives are involved, and it weathers to a stable silver-brown rather than going grey and rough.

42 mm side walls, 28 mm rear. The thickness is where the heat retention comes from: a well-insulated 5 m³ room reaches temperature quickly and holds it, so a modest heater does the job and running costs stay sensible.

Run it on gas — no electrician, no cable across the garden

This is the option almost nobody else offers, and for a lot of gardens it is the one that makes a sauna possible at all.

A FinSteam gas heater runs on a standard propane bottle — the same sort you would use for a patio heater or a barbecue. No armoured cable, no trench across the lawn, no electrician quote you had not budgeted for. If your garden has no power at the far end, this is how you still get a sauna there.

Because the benches run the full width, the Solo 205 takes a wall-mounted heater — that is what keeps the bench and floor space usable. Our Harvia Wall is black steel with a full 20 kg stone capacity for softer, steadier löyly, integrated controls and a 2-year warranty.

All electric heaters must be installed and connected by a qualified electrician. We confirm the exact supply requirement with you before installation.

2-year warranty

The Solo 205 carries a 2-year warranty on the cabin structure, and the heaters carry their own manufacturer warranty.

Thermowood is stable and rot-resistant by nature, but like any outdoor timber it lasts longest if you treat the exterior and keep it treated. We will tell you exactly what to use and when. Look after it and this is a cabin that will outlast the warranty by a wide margin.

Lead time — please ask before you order

Lead time depends on stock and specification, and it moves. Depending on what is already built and how the factories are running, it can be anywhere from a couple of weeks to around four months.

Ask us and we will give you the real date for your build before you commit — we would rather tell you the honest timescale up front than quote a comfortable number and disappoint you later.

Getting it into your garden

• Base: level and well-drained — a slab, paving or compacted gravel all work. Minimum 205 × 125 cm.
• Access: delivered as flat-pack panels, so it goes through a standard side gate. No crane, no dismantling fences.
• Assembly: typically a day for two people, or leave it to our installation team.
• Sequence: most customers build the cabin first, then have the heater and lighting connected once it is in position.
