Electric Saunas

An electric sauna is the simplest way to get real, high Finnish heat at home — no fire to light, no chimney, no fuel to store. Just switch it on, and the heater brings the stones to temperature ready for löyly. Our electric outdoor saunas come as barrel, cube and pod shapes, seating 1–6 people, all delivered UK-wide.

Plug-in (13A) or hardwired?

This is the key decision with any electric sauna:

  • Plug-in (13A): smaller heaters run from a normal outdoor socket — no electrician, works the day it's installed. Best for compact 1–2 person saunas.
  • Hardwired (higher kW): larger saunas need a dedicated circuit fitted by a Part P electrician (typically £400–£1,200). This buys you faster, hotter heat for 4–6 person cabins.

If avoiding an electrician entirely matters to you, also look at our gas saunas and wood-fired saunas — both run completely off-grid. The full trade-off is in our wood vs gas vs electric guide.

What it costs to run

An electric sauna costs roughly £1.75–£2.00 a session at 2026 UK electricity prices — in the same band as gas and wood. See the full sauna running-costs comparison.
