Black outside, thermowood inside, and a full glass front across the whole face. The Tallin 220 XL is the one that does not look like a garden sauna — it looks like something an architect specified. Set against planting or a rendered wall, the black shell recedes and the lit interior does the work.

Behind the styling it is the widest cube we list at 2.36 m across, giving an 11 m³ room with benches deep enough to lie down on. Four to six people, one level, no compromises on bench width to make the numbers work.

Thermowood, and only thermowood

This cabin is built in thermowood only — no spruce option — because the specification is fixed at the top of the range.

Thermowood is timber kiln-treated at 180–220°C in a low-oxygen chamber. That is not a surface coating. It changes the wood itself, closing the cells so it absorbs far less moisture — which is what stops outdoor timber cupping, twisting and splitting through a British winter. No chemical preservatives are involved.

42 mm side walls, 28 mm back. The thickness matters here more than usual: a full glass front loses heat faster than timber, so the rest of the shell has to hold it.

Run it on gas — no electrician, no cable across the garden

This is the option almost nobody else offers, and for a lot of gardens it is the one that makes a sauna possible at all.

A FinSteam gas heater runs on a standard propane bottle — the same sort you would use for a patio heater or a barbecue. No armoured cable, no trench across the lawn, no electrician quote you had not budgeted for. If your garden has no power at the far end, this is how you still get a sauna there.

Or choose an electric heater

The Tallin 220 XL takes a wall-mounted heater, which keeps the full bench width usable. Our Harvia Wall is black steel with a full 20 kg stone capacity for softer, steadier löyly, integrated controls and a 2-year warranty — and black steel suits this cabin.

A note on the glass. A full glass front is the reason to buy this cabin, and it is also the reason to specify the heater properly. Glass loses heat faster than 42 mm timber. If you plan on winter use or an exposed garden, tell us and we will size it accordingly rather than defaulting to the listed option.

All electric heaters must be installed and connected by a qualified electrician. We confirm the exact supply requirement with you before installation.

Prefer a different heater — HUUM, a WiFi-controlled model, or a wood-burning stove? Choose cabin only and talk to us; we can supply and fit most makes.

2-year warranty

The Tallin 220 XL carries a 2-year warranty on the cabin structure, and the heaters carry their own manufacturer warranty.

Thermowood is stable and rot-resistant by nature, but like any outdoor timber it lasts longest if you treat the exterior and keep it treated. The black finish in particular repays maintenance. We will tell you exactly what to use and when.

Lead time — please ask before you order

Lead time depends on stock and specification, and it moves. Depending on what is already built and how the factories are running, it can be anywhere from a couple of weeks to around four months.

Ask us and we will give you the real date for your build before you commit — we would rather tell you the honest timescale up front than quote a comfortable number and disappoint you later.

Getting it into your garden

• Base: level and well-drained — a slab, paving or compacted gravel all work. Minimum 231 × 236 cm, plus room to walk around it. This is the widest cube we list; measure before you commit.
• Access: delivered flat-packed on one pallet, so the parts go through a standard side gate. No crane, no dismantling fences.
• Glass: the front wall is the heaviest single component. Two people minimum for that panel, or leave the whole build to our installation team.
• Orientation: point the glass at the view. It is the one decision you cannot easily change afterwards.
