Outdoor Cube Saunas — Modern, Glass-Fronted

Cube saunas trade the rustic barrel look for a clean architectural form: square frame, flat roof, often a full glass front, with more headroom and bench length than a barrel of the same footprint. The modern design statement for the garden — from £4,795 complete with a heater, 2 to 6 person.

Two routes into a cube

Gas-ready Steam & Oak cubes — the more affordable route, with electric or wood-fired options, from the 1.8m up to the 3.4m Premium L-Bench. Ideal if you want the cube look without the top-end price, or off-grid gas heat.

Holl’s ThermoWood cubes — heat-treated Thermowood with a premium finish: the Hestia (3–4 person), the Hestia Lounge with terrace, and the mirrored-glass Onyxia Cube (4 person).

Why a cube

The glass front brings light in and frames the garden; the square shape gives generous headroom; and quality cubes are built in Thermowood for outdoor durability. The trade-offs versus a barrel are a slightly higher price and running cost (the glass is a heat-loss point), which is why the glazing quality matters. Full detail — glazing, Thermowood, cube vs barrel vs cabin — is in our Cube Sauna UK guide.

Cube sauna FAQs

How much does a cube sauna cost?

From £4,795 for a gas-ready cube complete with a heater, up to around £10,999 for a large premium ThermoWood cube. A shell-only cube starts at £4,195 if you are sourcing your own heater.

Are glass-front cube saunas energy efficient?

A quality cube with toughened, thermally efficient glazing and good seals holds heat well — the glass is the main heat-loss point, so the glazing spec is what matters. Quality Thermowood walls help it hold temperature.

Cube or barrel sauna — which is better?

A barrel is better value and heats more efficiently (less air to heat); a cube offers a modern design, glass front and more headroom, at a somewhat higher price and running cost. Choose a barrel for value, a cube for design.

Are cube saunas electric, wood-fired or gas?

All three. The Holl’s ThermoWood cubes ship with an electric heater; our gas-ready Steam & Oak cubes offer electric or wood-fired options too.

Build service: these arrive flat-packed — we offer construction from £500, applying insulating paste between every panel for better heat retention than a standard fit. Sauna installation FAQs.
