Why gas changes the equation

What "gas-ready" means — engineered vents built into the cabin

The gas variant ships with wooden louvre vents at the FinSteam-specified sizes built into the cabin: intake ≥350 cm² low next to the heater (drawing fresh air directly from outside), exhaust ≥250 cm² high in the opposite corner (discharged directly to outside). FinSteam explicitly exclude plastic disc / twist valves. The vent configuration and the FinSteam heater are certified together under EU Gas Appliance Regulation 2016/426. Pick the electric or wood-fired variant and the sauna ships with the appropriate vent set for that heat type.

The 3m barrel with anteroom is the full-size destination sauna — 3m main sauna room + 0.4m porch + 0.85m enclosed anteroom. Running cost + warm-up

Configured with the FinSteam Aurora 81 R14S gas heater, running cost is approximately £0.50-£0.80 per 60-90 minute session. Warm-up: 15-20 minutes from cold to 70-75°C.

Configured with a Harvia 6.8kW electric heater, this sauna runs at £1.75–£2.25 per 90-minute session at 30p/kWh. Warm-up takes around 30 minutes. Configured with a 9kW Harvia, those numbers move to about £2.50–£3.25 per session. With the Etna 12 wood-burning stove, the running cost moves off the electricity bill entirely — typical hardwood log cost is £2–£4 per session.

The anteroom changes everything

The 0.85m anteroom (sometimes called dressing room or vestibule) is the difference between "a sauna in the garden" and "a complete wellness building". Customers change out of outdoor clothing in the anteroom, hang dressing gowns, store wood for the wood-burning stove inside, even put a small bench for cool-down. The anteroom adds modest cost vs the no-anteroom equivalent but transforms the use-case for shared sessions or families with kids.
