Hekla Indoor Traditional 220 — Real Finnish Sauna, 6 Person
The 220 is the largest in the Hekla Indoor Traditional range — sized for six people, built for the family wellness room, the basement build-out, the garden annex that doubles as a small wellness suite. Same UK-manufactured Hekla quality (48mm thermo aspen walls, 8mm grey safety glass, Harvia heater + stones included), scaled up to a full-capacity cabin.
This is the proper investment-grade indoor sauna for households who want sauna bathing to be a shared, weekly thing — not a solo retreat. Plan the install carefully; once it's in, this is a 15-year-plus piece of household infrastructure.
Running cost + warm-up
The Harvia 9kW heater on the larger 220 volume pulls about 9 kWh peak. Run cost at 30p/kWh is typically £2.75–£3.50 per 90-minute session. Warm-up from cold to working temperature (80–90°C) takes around 40 minutes. The larger volume means heat retention between löyly throws is generous — practical when six people are getting in and out.
Why the 220 over the 210X
- Wider footprint (2,200mm vs 2,100mm) + deeper interior (2,100mm vs 2,000mm) — the 220 is a proper 6-person room, not a stretched 4-person.
- Bench layout supports L-shaped or facing-bench configuration — better for shared conversation than the linear bench of smaller models.
- Larger heat reservoir — six people opening and closing the door doesn't drop the room temperature as quickly as a smaller cabin would.
What makes Hekla Traditional different
- 48mm thermo aspen wood walls — aspen has the lowest thermal conductivity of any common sauna wood. The benches stay comfortable to sit on even at 90°C. Thermo treatment makes the wood dimensionally stable and resistant to warping over years of heat cycles.
- 8mm grey safety glass on the door and window — proper safety spec, tempered for thermal shock.
- Harvia 9kW heater with Xenio digital control — Harvia is the gold standard in every UK Finnish sauna review. Stones included.
- Chromotherapy LED lights + bluetooth sound system built in.
- Built-in non-slip vinyl floor grid.
- Choice of two finishes — Nero (dark, modern) or Scandi (lighter wood tone).
What's included

Delivery & site preparation
- Standard delivery: Free standard UK delivery is included.
- Site: Indoor saunas need a level floor with clear access from front door to final placement. The 220 needs proper floor space — measure 2,200 × 2,100mm plus working clearance for assembly.
- Electrical: The Harvia 9kW heater needs a dedicated 40-amp single-phase circuit connected by a qualified electrician before first use.
- Ventilation: Sauna ventilation valve included; ambient room ventilation strongly recommended given the larger humidity output of a 6-person cabin.
- Installation: Cabin assembly available — typically a full day for a 2-person team given the larger panel sizes.
