Harvia KIP60 vs FinSteam Botnia 81: Electric Workhorse vs Certified Gas

The Harvia KIP60 and FinSteam Botnia 81 are both excellent 6-8 kW sauna heaters, but they demand fundamentally different infrastructure. The KIP60 (6 kW electric, 240V single phase) requires a dedicated 32A circuit and Part P sign-off—a typical bill of £800–£1,500 before the heater even arrives. The Botnia 81 (8.1 kW flueless gas, propane-fired) needs nothing but a ventilation route and a propane cylinder outside. Neither requires a plumber or electrician. On running costs, both sit around £2–£3 per session; the difference is setup pain. If your garden has mains power, the KIP60 is simpler. If you're off-grid, renting, or the electrician quote shocked you, the Botnia wins outright.
