  • Standard delivery: Free standard delivery is included.
  • Delivery type: Sauna deliveries are usually specialist freight or booked delivery because of panel size and weight.
  • Site preparation: Outdoor saunas need a suitable, level base ready before delivery.
  • Heater & electrics: Traditional sauna heaters often need a dedicated supply and a qualified electrician. Please check the heater rating and site prep before delivery.
  • Installation: Assembly/installation is not included unless clearly stated on the product page or purchased separately.
  • Access: Please measure routes, doorways, gates and turning areas before ordering, especially for larger outdoor models.

Steam & Oak Rustic Barrel Sauna 4ft (Western Red Cedar) — 2 Person Finnish Barrel Sauna

The Rustic 4ft Barrel Sauna is the “small-but-real” outdoor sauna: a traditional Finnish barrel design in premium Western Red Cedar, sized for two people and built to be practical in UK gardens where space (and access) is tight. Because it’s a barrel, it naturally feels cosy and heats efficiently once your heater is up to temperature — ideal if you want regular, repeatable sessions rather than a huge cabin you only use on weekends.

Choose this sauna if…

  • You want the classic barrel sauna experience (authentic Finnish-style heat, warm cedar aroma, cosy sessions).
  • You’re working with limited space but still want a “proper sauna”, not a tiny infrared pod.
  • You want something you can assemble at home without specialist trades.
  • You want flexibility: it’s listed as suitable for indoor or outdoor placement (free-standing), depending on your space and ventilation plan.

Self-assembly (why this one is manageable)

Fonteyn lists this barrel sauna as designed for fast home assembly: the front and rear sections arrive pre-assembled, and the door is already hung on self-closing hinges. That’s the difference between “a few hours with basic tools” and “a multi-day build”.

Heater included with upgrade options

This sauna includes a heater as standard. If you want more power, you can select an upgraded heater through the product variants before ordering, so the final setup suits your performance and electrical plan.

Planning basics (so delivery day is smooth)

  • Base: you’ll need a stable, level base (slabs on a proper sub-base, concrete pad, or a correctly engineered deck).
  • Access route: measure gates/turns from kerbside to final position — barrels can be awkward through narrow access points.
  • Ventilation: this model is listed with ventilation: yes, but you still want sensible clearance around the unit for airflow and maintenance.
  • Electrics/heater planning: decide heater type early so you can prep the right supply and protection (RCD/isolation) before it arrives.

Temperature note (listed specs)

On the product page, the overview panel shows “Temperature: up to 120°C”, while the detailed specification table includes “Temperature: Maximum 80 degrees”. Real-world temperature depends on the heater option selected, along with how the sauna is used (pre-heat time, ventilation, ambient conditions).

Steam & Oak buyer tip

The best “small sauna” setups are the ones that remove friction: stable base, easy access, heater chosen early, and a simple routine. Get those right and a 2-person barrel like this becomes a near-daily reset button — not a garden ornament.
